The Christian Centre is a strong supporter of Colombia Childcare – a charity working in the North of Colombia.

The project is supporting thousands of highly disadvantaged children in the country – providing food, healthcare, education, accommodation and recreational activities in some of the poorest parts of the country.

GHANA
Ben & Marion Owusu-Sekyere

The Christian Centre is pioneering a project in Northern Ghana called the King’s Village.

Led by Ben and Marion Owusu-Sekyere, the project is developing a school, medical centre, vocational training centre and providing clean water for some of Ghana’s most disadvantaged people.

Currently the school has around 120 pupils and a new intake of 35 pupils joins every year. The first phase of a medical centre was recently opened, providing the first doctor amongst the 150,000 people living in the district.

At the end of 2005, the Christian Centre partnered with national charity St Dunstan's (which works with ex-servicemen and women who are blind) and the British Army in a water and sanitation programme.
The pilot project provided water and latrines to three local villages - together with community hygiene training. The project received national and regional press coverage and is due to expand in 2007.

Four people from the Christian Centre are working in Uganda – in partnership with aid agency Medair. Medair provides a range of programmes in the country in refugee camps including providing healthcare, sanitation, clean water and support for children.

Fraser is working for Medair as country director for Uganda, as well as overseeing work in the volatile neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.

Anna Stickley is based in Northern Uganda, where she is working on a project helping to rehabilitate former child soldiers.

Finally, Geoff Andrews is working in North Eastern Uganda. He is leading a team of professionals who are providing life-saving assistance and support to some of the quarter of a million displaced people. You can keep up to date with Geoff on his blog: www.geoffandrews.blogspot.com
